What is shares recovery?

Shares recovery is a process in which you get access to your equity shares which were not accessible to you before due to various reasons such as:

  1. Shares lying in physical format (Share certificate)
  2. Original shares certificate misplaced/damaged
  3. Few or all of the shareholders deceased hence transmission is required
  4. Shares transferred to suspense account
  5. Shares transferred to IEPF

How can i convert my shares into DEMAT?

But if your shares are falling into any of the above 5 categories then you will not be able to convert them into DEMAT directly. First you have to do a specified process regarding the issue and then only you will be issued ‘Letter of confirmation’ or ‘Letter of entitlement’ using which you can go for DEMAT conversion and IEPF claim of your shares.

How much time does it takes to recover my shares?

For Non-IEPF claims your shares can be recovered in 2-5 months. For IEPF claims it takes at least 6 months to 12 months to get back your shares.

Can i sell my physical shares?

In order to get access to your shares first they have to be converted to DEMAT, because from 1st April 2019 SEBI has banned physical transfer of shares using transfer deed.

What is the process to recover my shares?

There are 13 types of shares recovery claims. To recover your shares you must understand what type of claim you have to do, then prepare the required documentation as per the compliance and send it to registrars and companies. After that with the regular follow-ups your shares can be easily recovered.
